Choir Rules

Rules for Choir

Most of the rules and policies are the same as one would find anywhere else at Elgin MIddle School. However, there are some choir specific rules that will be addressed. Prohibited behavior or actions fall under three levels of severity and thus will be handled as follows:

 

Level 1 - will be dealt with in class with a verbal warning and/or a deduction of dojo points. 

Level 2 - Minor Incident Report (MIR) a phone call home, and possibly detention. 

Level 3 - Behaviors listed as level 3 will result in a referral and a phone call home.  

 

Below are two charts listing the behaviors in their associated levels:

Level 1

  • Talking during rehearsal 

  • Not participating

  • Not having supplies

  • Casually using foul language

  • Not following instructions

  • Chewing Gum or eating on the risers. 

  • Talking in the audience during a performance.

  • Getting off the risers during class.

Level 2

  • Repeated engagement of level 1 activity 

  • Cell phones out in class.

  • Out of dress code

  • Disrupting class

  • Vandalizing school property

  • Not following instructions given by a chaperone or bus driver. 

  • Not following instructions given by another director or adult during a trip.

Level 3

  • Excessive engagement of level 1 and/or level 2 activity 

  • Bullying

  • Fighting

  • Skipping Class

  • Stealing 

  • Drug Possession 

  • Excessive disrespect towards the choir director or other teachers.

  • Disrespectful behavior towards any adult during a concert or trip. 

  • Vandalizing property off campus.
